National Volunteers Week

Volunteers Week 2020 was celebrated between 1st and 7th June which celebrates volunteers and gives the opportunity to say thank you to them.

This is our chance to say a big thank you to everyone who supports and volunteers with Caernarfon Celts Wheelchair Basketball Club. Without the volunteers that give up their time week in and week out, we couldn't run the club.

So we say a big THANK YOU :)

This was summed up perfectly by Jess, one of our level 2 coaches, in a very emotive facebook post:

"While it is still National Volunteer Week. I would like to share that I'm not just a volunteer for the army cadets I'm also a volunteer/coach for Caernarfon Celts Wheelchair Basketball Club.

I have been involved with the club for around 6 years, I remember few people saying I should get involved and my answer was no and would never be able to teach members how to play and also learn new skills my self, but to be honest I'm glad I started to get involved.

Would never think how hard it would be to be in a wheelchair learning new skills every week and seeing kids younger than me being able to dribble a ball plus moving in the chair but I got it in the end lol (with a bit of practice).

A few courses were done and my nerves kicked in big time with thinking might get something wrong or not be able to teach as good as some people but who would think 6 years down the line still learning and a level 2 coach to all these amazing people in the club but thanks to Debs I wouldn't be were I am right now. I am a very proud volunteer".
